Last week I entered my 34th year on this beautiful earth and to mark the event I have decided "I will be a Lady who wears lipstick!" So off I went to David Jones, straight to the Chanel counter, where I was seduced by the delicious Cooco Rouge in Gabrielle. As I made my purchase I imagined myself wandering through the busy and beautiful streets of Paris...stepping into the warmth of Le Fumoir for a Champagne Brunch. Leaving my mark on the champagne glass, I re-apply my luscious red lips...as I leave the bar I catch the refelction of myself in the window, admiring my beautiful smile, I trip on a cobble stone and land with a crash flat on my moosh...I look up, my face now the shade of my Coco Rouge, I see him... HA I've been day dreaming way too much!
You've probably gathered I am now slightly obsessed with Chanel lipstick and I find myself day dreaming about it all day, how it brings instant glam and cred to an outfit, the luxurious, velvety feel on my lips, so sexy, I feel like a screen siren... For a week now I've been lusting after the Mademoiselle shade, it's perfect for everyday, but one can't justify splurging on two lipsticks in one month...can she...? Well it is my birthday month after all, so exactly one week later I drag a work collegue, she is now as obsessed as me, back to the Chanel counter, just to see if the shade suits me, and before I know it I'm the proud owner of a second Chanel lipstick!
So all this obsession has got me thinking about the history of lipstick...before Coco Chanel made it desirable and Marilyn Monroe made it famous, where did it come from, why do woman love to wear it, do men find it attractive??? Hmmm what I found, I'm not quite sure I can type it, maybe this is why I seem to be getting much more attention from the opposite sex lately...hmmm...not such a bad thing!
On that note...Happy Birthday to me!!
